Even stronger rise on European mainland
The
online fashion retailer can brag with a
37 % turnover increase worldwide, but especially the European mainland provided a growth of more than 60 %, reaching 105 million euro. Asos had 7.9 million active customers in 2013, a 41 % increase over 2012. CEO and founder Nick Robertson believes better delivery options and the addition of a wider
range of payment options aided the successful growth.
The
company will expand the capacity in its Barnsley logistics centre in the United
Kingdom, as well as open a central
distribution centre in Europe to lower costs for deliveries outside of the
United Kingdom. There are
also plans for another distribution centre in the United States.
Asos
had already opened a Chinese website in
November, even though analysts do not think that really impacted the fourth
quarter results in 2013. They
do expect the company to easily achieve its goals in 2014 if it maintains this
growth.
