Kamera Express will acquire its German counterpart GM Foto. The Dutch photography and video specialist now operates another two superstores in Germany.
Big ambitions
Kamera Express already has a superstore in Hannover under its own name. Through the acquisition of GM Photo, it now has a second physical store in Frankfurt am Main. In Germany, the company operates online under three labels: Kamera Express, Photospecialist and now, also, GM-Foto.
The total number of stores of the retailer now stands at 21. The Netherlands has 13, Belgium 5, Luxembourg 1 and Germany 2. Online, the company operates in ten European countries.
CEO Ben Cornelisse calls the expansion into Germany a logical step. He wants the company to be in the top three in Germany “within the foreseeable future”. “In 2020, we will have grown by more than 30 per cent in Germany, and we expect double digits for this year as well,” says the CEO.
