De Bijenkorf‘s French-language webshop is now online: the Dutch department store chain first wants to serve customers in Brussels and Wallonia, before attacking France and Austria.
After Belgium comes France
De Bijenkorf has extended its territory to French-speaking Belgium: the Belgian webshop now also has a French version, as previously announced. For the Dutch department store chain, these are the first steps in the French language, but according to CEO Giovanni Colauto they are mainly logical steps.
The “successful online roll-out in Flanders five years ago and Germany last year” tasted like more. After the expansion into Brussels and Wallonia, the luxury department store formula is already preparing for launches in France and Austria. This year, webshops should also open their doors there.
After all, since the corona crisis the advantage of a pure online presence is clearer than ever, Colauto has already made clear. The CEO also explains his omni-channel plans in the new book ‘The Future of Department Stores‘, about the new role of the tried-and-tested department store sector.
In French-speaking Belgium, just as in Flanders, De Bijenkorf offers free delivery and returns, while those who order before 10 p.m. receive their order the very next day. The webshop also offers customers a sixty days reflection period.
