Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo plans to bring its city-centre concept Jumbo City to Belgium. On 15 December, the first such store should open in Antwerp.
“Ideal location”
For its first foreign Jumbo City, the Dutch chain has found a location on Antwerp’s main shopping axis, between its Central Station and the river Scheldt. “It is a huge public transport interchange that also links with routes for cyclists and pedestrians between the Central Station and the main shopping streets”, Jumbo Belgium’s managing director Peter Isaac says.
The store concept specifically aims at residents and visitors of city centres, offering both their daily groceries and fresh meals for on-the-go. It has self-scanning tills to ensure a speedy customer journey.
