The German Schwarz Group, which includes Lidl and Kaufland, had a healthy 2020. Its turnover rose by 10 per cent to 125.3 billion euros.
“Motivated employees”
Lidl recorded a 9.9 per cent growth in the 2020 financial year to a total of 96.3 billion euros; sister company Kaufland also did very well with a +7.5 per cent increase to 25.5 billion. PreZero, a recycling company, even recorded growth in turnover of 33.7 per cent (to 700 million euros). This will increase by three times next year, thanks to the acquisition of parts of the Suez group.
In a press release, the Schwarz Group expressly thanks its “highly motivated” 500,000 employees, and the Germans also proudly look back on “stable delivery procedures”, which allowed the group to “ensure the supply of the population in our 12,900 branches during the pandemic”.
