British market leader Tesco is going to collaborate with rapid-grocery delivery company Gorillas to deliver groceries in the United Kingdom within ten minutes.
Unique collaboration
The collaboration is a pilot project that will start in the Tesco store of Thornton Heath (South London) and will later be extended to other stores. Uniquely, both partners will set up small joint warehouses in each Tesco store, from which fast deliveries can be made.
Currently, Tesco already delivers to 99.8 % of postcodes in the UK, and the retailer has over 400 pick-up points for online orders. The company sees the new partnership as an important and user-friendly addition to its already existing online services, Charged Retail reports.
“Tailored to our customers”
“The idea that we can reach our customers in just ten minutes is really exciting”, CEO of Tesco UK Jason Tarry explained. “We are committed to being easily the most convenient choice for our customers, enabling them to shop whenever and however they want.”
Gorillas COO Adrian Frenzel is also delighted with the deal. “This co-location partnership will bring unprecedented value to our customers in the UK who will now have the possibility to be delivered the best of Tesco within minutes thanks to Gorillas.”
