Action has opened its first store in Spain, the tenth country in which the Dutch non-food discounter is active. The store is located in the northern region Catalonia, where three more stores are already planned.
2 euros on average
At the end of the month, Action aims to open a second Spanish store in Sabadell, followed by a store in Hospitalet in March. A store in Figueres would conclude this first burst of store openings in Spain, but not the end of Action’s Spanish expansion: a warehouse is already in the pipeline in order to sustain growth on the Iberian peninsula, Action’s Monique Groeneveld told Spanish news medium Food Retail.
Action has launched a campaign to highlight its low prices, emphasising that the average price of its products are under 2 euros – a quarter of its almost 6,000 products even costs under one euro. To keep its stores interesting, the discounter promises a weekly supply of 150 new products.
Action is going through a fast European expansion, with its first store in Italy opening last year. In total, Action now has more than 2,000 stores in ten countries.
