In Dallas, Walmart has opened an extensive health centre, in addition to renovating the hypermarket. This is how the world’s largest retailer wants to gain a foothold in the lucrative health market.
Local partners
The Walmart Health Center will offer a wide range of medical services for the local community. People can go there for primary care, but there are also facilities for services such as X-rays, ECG examinations, and dental care, to name but a few. It is operated in collaboration with local partners.
The centre is integrated into the converted hypermarket, a branch of Walmart Supercenter, although it has a separate entrance. All local families are welcome, regardless of their insurance status, explained the supermarket chain in a press release.
Giant market
The aim of the supermarket chain is to gain a foothold in the U.S. health care system, a market with an estimated annual value of some 3.5 trillion dollars (3.16 trillion euros). In order to achieve this, the chain offers a wide range of medical services that are not only easily accessible, but also provided at a lower price than the competition.
