Ochama, a subsidiary of Chinese retail giant JD.com, is expanding its partnership with Blokker, to open pick-up points in fifty additional stores. If successful, more stores will follow later.
Complementary
In May 2022, Ochama opened its first pick-up points in four Blokker stores: Amstelveen, Rotterdam, The Hague and Zoetermeer. The Chinese e-commerce player sees efficiency gains in this partnership and has since closed three of its four separate pick-up stores in the Netherlands. This move has now accelerated through the opening of fifty additional pick-up points in Blokker stores, and that is not the end yet. CEO Jeanine Holscher told newspaper De Telegraaf that “We expect to set up an Ochama collection point in many more stores in the coming month.”
The cooperation benefits both partners: Ochama is gradually gaining national coverage and more exposure, while Blokker is attracting new customers and earning a fee for the collection points. Meanwhile, Ochama also sells part of the Blokker range in its app. As Ochama mainly sells food and Blokker has an extensive range of cookware, the offerings are complementary.
For several months now, Ochama has been managed directly from China. The online shop primarily targets Chinese consumers in Europe and now serves customers in nine European countries.
