Canadian retail group Couche-Tard has finalised its takeover of Total petrol stations. Gradually, the tank shops will change names and concepts.
Circle K
In the Netherlands and Germany, the Canadians now have full ownership of TotalEnergies’ petrol stations, while in Belgium and Luxembourg they have a 60 % majority stake. In Belgium, 562 sites are involved, as well as the 1,380 employees in the Brussels and Zaventem offices.
The petrol shops will be changed into the Circle K brand, under which Couche-Tard also operates petrol stations abroad. Not everything will change overnight, though: only the shop and car-wash operations will be transformed into Circle K concepts over the years. For at least five years, the petrol stations and fuels will remain “TotalEnergies”.
