Colruyt Group is going to equip its new Newpharma distribution centre in Liège with high-tech robotics applications. In doing so, the group unites the specialisations of two other subsidiaries.
Towards one large logistics centre
Newpharma has started building a new distribution centre in Liège in order to centralise its growing activities. The new logistics centre is 20,000 sqm in size and will eventually be expanded to 50,000 sqm. It will replace the current sites in Wandre and Tongeren, COO Pierre De Lit explains.
The new warehouse is equipped with modern robotics technology from another Colruyt subsidiary, Scallog. Smart Technics, which is also part of Colruyt Group, was responsible for the integration. The group intends to optimise stock management, order processing, order picking, packaging and ergonomics for the employees, general manager Jeroen Theys detailed in a press release.
Newpharma will gradually start using the new facilities this autumn. The expansion of the distribution centre is planned for next year.
