Perfume chain Douglas has appointed Sebastiaan de Jong as its new CEO for Belgium and the Netherlands. He will succeed Willem Duthler, who is stepping down for personal reasons, on 9 September.
Seven years in charge
The new CEO has a lot of experience in retail: he held various executive positions at Ahold for thirteen years. He then became Chief Commercial Officer at Intergamma, but returned to Ahold in 2020 to become CEO of drugstore chain Etos.
Duthler had been with Douglas since 1998 and has had a successful career with the company. Since 2005, he was CEO of the Dutch branch and later he also became responsible for Czechia, Germany, Lithuania and Switzerland. In 2017, he became CEO of the Benelux branch, which he will leave after seven years in charge.
