Dutch retailer Kruidvat has extended its webshop with a marketplace for baby products. Later on, other categories will be added and the marketplace will be expanded to Belgium.
3000 references
Kruidvat is the latest retailer to join the popular platform strategy: in its Dutch webshop, customers find 3000 different references of baby products, compared to 750 earlier. The extra range is provided by external partners, even though it is a curated selection that deliberately avoids the retailer’s own, existing product range. The marketplace offers things like baby monitors, travel cots and buggies.
According to Online Business Director Roland van den Berg of parent company A.S. Watson, more than half of all babies in the Netherlands wear Kruidvat nappies, Twinkle reports. Baby products are therefore an important category. “Many prospective parents start their search for baby supplies online. With Kruidvat Marketplace, we make it even easier for our customers to find all their items for every milestone, from pregnancy to toddler, in one place.” More categories will eventually be added and the marketplace will also expand to Belgium.
