Procter & Gamble will manufacture a new Head & Shoulders bottle, partially made from washed-up plastic. The bottle will also be fully recyclable.
Double use of recycled plastic
The new bottle will be available at Carrefour France this summer and it will be the first time a bottle made from washed-up plastic will be manufactured on this scale, according to P&G. “We felt that the leading shampoo brand in sales should lead in sustainability innovation and know that when we do this, it encourages the entire industry to do the same”, said Lisa Jennings, Vice President, said.
The new bottle is a collaboration between P&G, TerraCycle and SUEZ and also part of Procter & Gamble’s goal to double its use of recycled plastic in its packaging by 2020. By the end of 2018, more than half a billion bottles will need to contain at least 25 % recycled plastic for the company to meet its first approaching target.
