Nivea and Eucerin sales have helped German Beiersdorf achieve a good year, with a 6.4 % turnover growth and a higher post-tax profit.
Small turnover drop in Western Europe
Beiersdorf’s total turnover reached 6.69 billion euro in 2015, up 6.4 % compared to a year ago. It also experienced a decent organic turnover growth, at 3 %.
Post-tax profit grew from 537 million euro in 2014 to 671 million euro in 2015 and Beiersdorf expects turnover to grow another 3 to 4 % in its current fiscal year.
“Beiersdorf was successful in 2015. Once again, we were able to increase our sales and earnings. We gained market share in our relevant markets and further improved Beiersdorf’s competitiveness and efficiency. Our results in 2015 clearly show that we have made Beiersdorf more resilient and that we continue on a sustainable, profitable growth path even under challenging economic conditions”, Stefan F. Heidenreich, Beiersdorf’s CEO, said.
Beiersdorf’s success in 2015 was mostly because of Nivea and Eucerin’s sales. The former grew 4.5 % while the latter grew even more, up 5.4%.
The company did experience a slight turnover drop in Western Europe, down 0.3 %, but Eastern Europe managed a 7.9 % turnover increase, although its biggest growth was in South America, where turnover shot up 10.9 %.
