Frank van Oers is the new president of Dutch DIY group Intergamma‘s supervisory board. His task is to strengthen the position of chains Gamma and Karwei, and to expand their online presence.
New strategy
59 year old Van Oers started his career at PwC and then moved on through the boards of Johnson & Johnson and Douwe Egberts/Sara Lee, before becoming managing partner at Vorwerk & Co and joining Wessanen’s management. He joins Edwin Bouwman, Kitty Koelemeijer, Jos Stevens and Henri Verbeek in Intergamma’s board.
The board’s reinforcement comes right after Intergamma acquired its major franchiser, the equally Dutch Van Neerbos Group, making Intergamma a mixed company with both own stores and franchisers. In this new constellation, the difference between its two major chains is the next focus of attention: Gamma will be the handyman’s choice while Karwei will be more of a decoration store. With almost 400 stores and a 1.7 billion euro turnover, Intergamma is the market leader in DIY in the Benelux.
