Amazon is working on a device that listens to users and understands how they feel. It is however not sure that it will make it beyond the prototype stage.
Lab126
In some internal Amazon documents, Bloomberg found out about a device that can analyse from the tone a user’s voice how he or she feels. The gadget can be synchronised with a smartphone app.
It is not yet known whether or not Amazon will commercialise the gadget: its different research teams have a great autonomy in experimenting with products, but certainly not all of the trials lead to a new product on the market. In this case, the research teams behind the gadget are Alexa’s software team and hardware division Lab126, which has already created the Kindle, the Fire Phone and the Echo speaker. Next up is a domestic robot, which would be a more mobile version of the Echo speaker.
