It has been a while since Apple released a new Mac computer and that is apparently no coincidence: the computer’s development is on the backburner and the separate team to develop its operating system, MacOS, has been terminated.
Preference for iOS
The MacOS team has been merged with the iOS developers, the mobile operating system for iPhone and iPad. However, iOS development is also prioritized over MacOS, especially since Apple had to deal with several setbacks with delays for a number of products. For example, the 12” Macbook had to launch in 2014, but was only released in 2015. The MacBook Pro also failed to have the desired launch, with a weak battery.
Over the past 18 months, a lot of Apple engineers left the company and joined other companies, because it became clear that their plans would not get a lot of the technology giant’s attention.
Apple also has no plans to launch new devices in the upcoming year, but it is apparently focusing on faster processor development and the addition of USB-C ports to the iMac.
