Dutch electronics retailer Coolblue has expanded to Germany, with an e-commerce pilot in Düsseldorf launched today. The aim is to open physical stores soon as well.

Customers in the area around Düsseldorf can, as of today, order at Coolblue using the German version of its webshop or app. The pilot starts with a small range of products, but “soon more products and services will follow“, founder Pieter Zwart says. A precise timing for this further expansion, that should also feature a physical store, is not yet made public.
Coolblue was founded in 1999 as a group of webshops – each focussing on a single kind of product – that has started an offline expansion with more than a dozen physical stores in Belgium and the Netherlands. With a turnover of 1.5 billion euros in 2019, the company has known a rapid growth. German is the fourth language the company adopts, after Dutch, English and French.
