Investment fund Vendis is looking for a buyer for Kamera Express, the Dutch photo and video specialist that also has shops in Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.
Market leader
Kamera Express is a fast-growing omnichannel retailer specialising in photo and video equipment for advanced enthusiasts. The chain grew strongly in recent years thanks to acquisitions and realises a gross operating profit of some 20 million euros on a turnover of 250 million euros with an online platform and 13 physical shops in the Netherlands, 9 in Belgium, 10 in Germany and 2 in Luxembourg. This makes Kamera Express the market leader in the Benelux and one of the bigger players in Europe.
Main shareholder Vendis, which has held a 65% stake since 2018, is now looking for a buyer, writes business newspaper De Tijd based on information from Mergermarket. Both investment funds and industry peers are said to be looking at the file now. In the retail sector, Vendis is still active, among others, as an investor in bathroom chain X2O, discounter SoLow, specialist in direct sales Victoria, and brands such as Pink Gellac or Fatboy.
