Store digitization
“Stores are one of the pillars in our strategy. They are not merely points of sale, but also service centers, local storage space and showrooms. That is why we are digitizing all our points of sale and that is why we will link all our stores to our online branches”, CEO Pieter Haas said at the opening of the 1,000th store.
“The digital age is a major opportunity for retail: the integration, right at the heart of our company, means we will be able to present a consistent experience everywhere and we are convinced that this is the recipe for success as the Media-Saturn group in the future”, he said.
Part of that digitization are adjustable pricing labels, tablets for store employees, free WiFi for all customers and online terminals for customers who seek additional information. All these additions are currently being implemented across Media-Saturn’s store network. Soon, customers will also be able to research more product information through QR codes.
Media-Saturn is currently active in 15 European countries and has a 21 billion euro yearly turnover. The Metro Group subsidiary employs more than 65,000 people.
