Better than expected
In the first three months of 2015, AB InBev managed to sell 107 million hectoliters of beer, a 1.2 % like-for-like drop compared to the previous year. Mainly its European (- 5.9 %) and American (- 5.6 %) sales fell behind, while Mexican volumes grew 2.1 % and Asian levels even rose 4.8 %. In its home territory, Belgium, the brewer managed a “low, single-digit volume drop”, but that still resulted in a higher market share.
In the end, turnover reached 10.45 billion dollars (9.3 billion euro), slightly below last year’s 10.6 billion dollars (9.4 billion euro). On a like-for-like basis, AB InBev manages to do better than expected with a 6.2 % increase.
The like-for-like EBITDA rose 11.1 % to 3.97 billion dollars (3.5 billion euro) and its net profit reached 2.29 billion dollars (2 billion euro), while it only managed 1.42 billion dollars (1.25 billion euro) in the first three months of 2014.
