Adidas once again increased its growth forecast, for the second time in 4 months, after the German sports clothing brand announced it easily beat its 2015 profit forecast.
Double-digit growth
Based on 2015’s preliminary numbers (the full numbers will not be revealed until 3 March), Adidas’ net profit grew 12 % to 720 million euro, while turnover reached 16.9 billion euro, up 16 % compared to the year before. After exchange rate corrections, turnover still grew 10 %.
Double-digit West European, Chinese and Latin American growth helped boost the company’s numbers. Adidas itself grew twice as fast as Reebok, growing 12 and 6 % respectively.
“We are in good shape”, CEO Herbert Hainer said. In October, he will relinquish his post to Kasper Rorsted, who currently leads Henkel. “This gives us faith that both turnover and net profit will grow once more.” The sporting giant expects 2016 turnover (excluding exchange rate fluctuations) to grow more than 10 %, thanks to the European Championship football and the Olympic Games.
