Cheaper travels with Aldi
Since the beginning of this year, private
transporters in Germany are allowed to offer bus services between cities. In the
case of Aldi the service will be executed by Univers Busreisen in the name of
Aldi. Passengers will also have free
wireless internet access during their journey.
The busses will travel the routes Berlin-Munich,
Berlin-Hamburg and Bonn-Stuttgart, for prices starting at ten euro. With this
the retailer is going into competition with Deutsche Bahn, as travelling
by train is usually more expensive in Germany. It is not the first deviation from food for the discounter, as the company also offers cheap phone
subscriptions.
The discount chain is not the only one offering
private bus services: Deutsche Post and ADAC will also be selling bus passes.
Other companies that are going for a ride are MeinFernbus and FlixBus, while even Deutsche Bahn is going to over travel by bus via their subsidiary Berlin Linien
Bus.
