As of 1 February, C&A will have a new Managing Director Germany as Eric Andrew Brenninkmeijer takes the baton from Jean-Marie Malbranke. This puts in motion a series of musical chairs, with its influence on the Benelux.
A new challenge
Malbranke has been at the head of the fashion chain in Germany for less than a year. According to TextilWirtschaft, the company gave no clear reason for Malbranke’s departure, except that he “is leaving C&A to take up a new professional challenge.” His successor, Eric Andrew Brenninkmeijer, is a descendant of the well-known family of owners and was country manager for the Benelux up till now. That place will be filled by Stefanie Schneider, who is currently responsible for sales & operations in Belgium and Luxembourg.
C&A is going through difficult times: sales and profitability are under pressure in several countries. Earlier this week it became known that the retailer will close thirteen shops in Germany, as part of a restructuring plan. Last week, the company also announced the closure of thirty French stores. This is the second reorganisation in less than a year.
