Italian fashion group Armani will no longer use fur in any collection, starting with its 2016 fall collections. Previously, it used a lot of rabbit fur in its clothing, enfuriating animal rights groups.
Activists hope others will follow
Armani says recent technological advances have enabled it to switch to fur alternatives at last. It has now signed a deal with the Fur Free Alliance and The Human Society of the United States.
Animal rights organizations hope many other fashion houses will follow Armani’s example, especially as the Italian label is an industry icon. Competitors like Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Stella McCartney have already denounced the use of fur in recent years.
