Remarkable comeback
Vincent Nolf’s appointment is remarkable, as he was Makro’s customer management director until 4 years ago, but left to take up a position at bpost. He will return to his biggest love, retail, in October. Nolf also has experience under his belt as a marketing director at GB (Carrefour).
Vincent Nolf will also become Makro Cash & Carry Belgium’s “deputy CEO”, which means he will become the Portuguese Antonio Baptista’s right hand, as he is the new boss. He was previously Real Russia’s CEO and Metro/Makro’s global director non-food.
Jean-Luc Tuzès took control of Metro/Makro’s Belgian activities in the fall of 2012, succeeding Nikolaus Ritter. He rose through the ranks of Metro France, starting in January 1986 as an operational manager, became the general director in the Czech Republic and China before taking up the position of COO of Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Austria and Hungary. The group’s Belgian activities underwent a huge restructuring plan in 2014, which meant 370 people lost their job.
