Fashion chain C&A has indicated it wants to reassess its network of French stores, which currently features 150 locations. According to the trade unions, 14 of those stores would be closed permanently.
Unable to compete
C&A France announced recently that it wanted to ‘adapt’ its store network to make it more competitive: in a short statement, the company says the market is demanding and it needs to maintain its ability to compete.
Trade union Force Ouvrière had already been notified in advance and says that fourteen stores are threatened with closure, including the stores in Caen, Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Etienne. A social plan is drafted for the 120 employees who would be hit by the closings.
C&A has already closed several stores lately, and currently has 150 stores in France and 1575 in the whole of Europe.
