Excellent Latin American performance
The company’s operational income grew to 2.39 billion euro, which is pretty much what analysts had expected. Particularly its Latin American activities performed well: operational income grew 23.2 % in this region.
In the meantime, Carrefour is still a company without a leader: CEO Georges Plassat will still not be able to return until the end of April after going to hospital for surgery in February. No reason was given as to the nature of the procedure.
Analysts now wonder whether Plassat will ever be able to return as CEO, which would be a tremendous blow to Carrefour as he is considered to be the man responsible for the turnaround Carrefour has experienced over the past few years.
