Maison365, a company selling clothing boxes based on personal style advice in the Netherlands and Flanders, is growing fast. CEO Maarten Valk now wants to conquer the rest of Belgium as well as Germany.
Women’s fashion only
Maison365 specifically targets busy but fashionable women in need of advice and inspiration between the ages of 30 and 55, Valk explains in an interview with RetailTrends. Based on an extensive customer profile, a stylist from the platform puts together three suitable outfits, which get then delivered in a box. The customer can choose at home which items she wants to keep and return the rest. Valk emphasises that everything is tailored to the customer in question: “We do not use any set dress combinations.”
The top man took his inspiration for Maison365 from many similar platforms for men, such as House of Einstein. “For women, it wasn’t really picked up yet. Whereas with men, it is mostly about convenience. With Maison365, we want to inspire and advise women.”
Profitable
Successfully, as it turns out, because compared to the same period last year, the platform grew by 80 per cent. Maison365 currently sends out up to 1,500 clothing boxes each month. On average, customers keep three to four items per box, which amounts to an order value of 275 euros.
Due to its strong growth, the company is now profitable. According to Valk, the time is thus ripe to look further afield, particularly to Wallonia and Germany: “We believe in a stable basis. It’s not a case of ‘chop chop’, fast growth, but focusing on long-term growth.”
