Clothing company Damartex (Damart‘s parent company) has managed a decent 3.9 % second quarter turnover increase, the fourth quarter in a row it has published positive results.
Slower growth in November and December
Second quarter turnover grew to 234 million euro, a 1.7 % turnover increase excluding exchange rate fluctuations. Mainly its textile division and Home & Lifestyle performed very well for Damart in the second quarter.
Textile sales grew 3.3 % to 207.1 million euro, but the company did point out that its growth slowed down in November and December because of the warm weather while the terrorist threat also had its impact on French and Belgian sales. The Home & Lifestyle division’s second quarter sales grew 8.5 % to 26.9 million euro.
Damartex’ first half of its fiscal year yielded a 5.6 % turnover increase compared to last year, up to 390.7 million euro. If exchange rates had remained level, this would have been a 2.8 % turnover increase.
