(update) Dutch chain De Bijenkorf has confirmed it will create a French language version of its web shop to cater to France and the southern part of Belgium. Moreover, the company’s German web shop will start delivering to Austria as well.
France and/or Wallonia?
Rumours regarding the creation of a French version were sparked by ads for various French-language profiles for the e-commerce department in Amsterdam, such as an SEO copywriter and an SEA marketer, Twinkle Magazine reports. The company has now responded positively to a question of our editor about the expansion to the French-speaking part of Belgium and France.
Moreover, the spokesperson confirmed the expansion of the German web shop to Austria. However, there are as of yet no plans to also include Switzerland, despite the fact that it borders France, Germany and Austria and that most of its citizens speak French or German.
Last summer, de Bijenkorf has already opened a German web shop. A few years earlier, the department store chain had already started online sales in Belgium, albeit only in Dutch. All orders are shipped from the distribution centre in Tilburg.
