Louis Delhaize’s French Delitraiteur stores have been renamed to DOD (Dish of the Day) because of a legal battle with a competitor about similar names and logos. The Belgian Delitraiteurs would keep their original name.
Delitraiteur/DOD currently has 30 Belgian stores and 3 in Paris. The group plans an expansion in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, where it currently has only one store – enough reason for CEO Jean-Marc Van Cutsem to invite his stakeholders to the Roland Garros tennis tournament in Paris.
Parent chain Louis Delhaize, also active in the UK, Hungary, Romania, Luxemburg, the French Antilles and French Guyana, will soon feature in a RetailReport on this website. The Charleroi-based group, owner of Cora hypermarkets, Match supermarkets, Profi and Ecomax discount stores and Garden Leisure stores, has just opened a new state-of-the-art distribution centre in Nivelles, Belgium.
