Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten has decided to step down from his own fashion label. The 65-year-old wants to make way for a new generation, and will announce his successor soon.
Continuïteit garanderen
Van Noten is quitting as creative director at the eponymous fashion house: “I have been preparing for this moment for some time. I feel it is time to leave room for a new generation of talent to add its vision to the brand”, he said in a statement. Van Noten will say goodbye in June, after presenting his last spring and summer collection in Paris. He will, however, remain involved with the fashion house in the future.
To ensure the continuity of his brand, Van Noten had already sold a majority stake of his company to the Spanish group Puig in 2018. The Spanish group also owns other prestigious brands named after famous designers, such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci, Loubotin and Paco Rabanne. Dries Van Noten has shops in important centres such as Antwerp, Chengdu, Los Angeles, Paris, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
