Common strategic plans
Michel-Edouard Leclerc (head of E.Leclerc), and Alain Caparros (head of German Rewe Group) have announced in a press release they would “enter a strategic alliance in order to align their common strategic plans”. Both companies particularly aim to collaborate on a purchase level.
Both companies have also decided to “take advantage of this synergy to realign their teams on common strategic projects, like the development of bio products, tourist activities, import, energy and electric mobility.”
Rewe joins Coopernic alliance again
At the same time, the Rewe group will leave Belgian purchase alliance Core in order to join the Coopernic alliance once more. Other members in the Coopernic alliance are E.Leclerc, Coop Italia and Delhaize.
Leclerc had a 45.7 billion euro turnover (37 billion euro excluding gas sales) in 2014, with 42.2 billion generated in France. The German Rewe group on the other hand a worldwide turnover of 51 billion euro.
