Canadian fashion chain Canada Goose opened its first European store in London. The brand’s clothing has been in Europe for quite some time, but only at multi-brand stores up until now.

The new 464 sqm store is in Regent Street, one of the English capital’s major shopping streets. “Our first European store is yet another milestone for Canada Goose, exactly in the year where we celebrate our sixtieth birthday”, CEO Dani Reiss said in a press release. “London is known all over the world as a shopping destination and I am proud that we can bring our Canadian heritage, craftmanship and our top-of-the-line products to these historic streets.”
There were some animal rights protests when the store opened, because it still uses fur to line the hoods of its coats. They are also stuffed with actual down.
The Canadian coat manufacturer had a 172.3 million Canadian dollar (115 million euro) first quarter turnover, up 34.7 % compared to the year before. It managed a 37.1 million dollar (25 million euro) net profit. Its growth is partially thanks to its newly launched web shop. For its full fiscal year, the fashion brand forecasts a 25 % turnover growth.
