Steady conquest of China
The brewery, located in Bruges (Belgium), has extended its collaboration with the Dong family, which is already the distributor and promoter of the “Brugse Zot” craft beer. The pinnacle is the opening of the very first “Brugse Zot Café” in China, in a resort owned by the Dong family.
De Halve Maan has been active in China for 5 years and its beers, Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik, are increasingly popular over there. The brewery had already expanded its local activities in Shanghai and Beijing this year and will sell its two beers in more than 10 Chinese provinces next year.
Brouwerij De Halve Maan will continue its Asian expansion through this deal: after the successful launch of the first “Brugse Zot Café” in Japan in May 2014, the relatively light beer is becoming more popular over there, while South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong already have import deals for the beers of the brewery from Bruges.
