Calvin Klein’s flagship store in New York has been remodeled, with a nearly fluorescent yellow colour as the main eye catcher.
Turnaround for the brand
Ever since 1995, Calvin Klein has had a store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, but it has been remodeled entirely now. The new design was a collaboration between creative director Raf Simnos and artist Sterling Ruby. Every wall and ceiling was coloured in a bright, almost fluorescent yellow. Even the clothing racks were painted yellow. Several interior design pieces are from Sterling Ruby.
The interior design is a complete turnaround from the previous, rather clinical, design and that was the exact reasoning behind the switch: “I’m taking the Calvin Klein flagship store from minimal to maximal; my design should be seen as a marker to celebrate the future of the brand. I wanted the store to glow from within, representing a new day for Calvin Klein”, Sterling Ruby said.
