Good news for nine Belgian Scotch&Soda shops: they will reopen this autumn after being acquired by licencee GAB.
“Enduring appeal”
The shops in question are in Antwerp, Brasschaat, Bruges, Ghent, Halle, Knokke, Kortrijk, Nieuwpoort and Wemmel. According to GAB CEO Alain Broekaert, the acquisition demonstrates his “confidence in the enduring appeal and distinctive style of Scotch & Soda”. He said in a press release he is “incredibly excited” about the transaction, as the fashion brand still “resonates deeply with fashion enthusiasts”.
GAB also took over the French operations of Scotch&Soda last year, which as a result were left outside the bankruptcy of the European branch last month. Earlier this year, Alain Broekaert Group also saved the Dutch branch of shoe chain Clarks from collapse.
