Famous department store chain Galeries Lafayette has just opened a new outlet on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.
Change of concept
The new outlet of the iconic department store measures 6,500 sqm. The store concept comes from Danish architect Bjarke Ingels. According to manager Philippe Houzé the new store combines “retail, service and experience”.
The luxury department store’s concept hasn’t changed much. Its assortment consists of fashion, beauty and lifestyle products as well as accessories and food products from a total of 650 brands. The new flagship store targets millennials in particular and is expected to receive about 10,000 visitors per day.
Experimenting
The store will be used to try out new retail concepts. One of its innovations is the smart coathanger, which informs the client on the product and the available stock. There are no salespeople, but there are stylists who help customers along through a new app, Personal Stylist 2.0. The department store also has room for pop-ups and restaurants and you can even enjoy a live music performance there.
