Outdoor specialist Gore-Tex is the next clothing brand to start a rental program. This time focussed on a target group of skiers and snowboarders. Increasingly more brands are looking at recurring revenue from a clothing rental service.
North America
The rental service will launch at fifteen stores across North America. More locations may follow in the upcoming seasons, reports Fashion Network. Only exclusive garments will be available for rent: the collection consists of high-quality clothing designed for optimal performance and comfort.
After a rental, the item gets thoroughly inspected, cleaned and repackaged, ready for its next user.
Sustainability
Gore-Tex describes the rental programme as the ideal solution for travelling families and occasional skiers and snowboarders who do not (yet) want to invest in their own equipment. The brand also hopes to appeal to the ever-growing group of environmentally conscious consumers with this initiative.
“We’ve set out to create a very technical, very durable line of clothing that will stand up to frequent use and cleaning, providing consumers the Gore-Tex product experience and a convenient alternative to purchasing when it comes to outfitting themselves for winter adventure”, says Chris Brennan, product specialist from the innovation division.
