British luxury department store Harrods will use the traits found in its flagship store at London’s Knightsbridge as template for all of its future store renovations.
“Blueprint of everything we do”
In October, the famous department store relaunched its store in London Heathrow airport, based on the traits found in its flagship store at London’s Knightbridge, and the company now revealed all of its future store renovations will be based on the same template. “Everything harks back to Knightsbridge, in terms of architecture, reference points, in terms of finishes. It is the blueprint of everything we do”, Harrods business development director Raj Assanand said in an interview with DFNIonline.
Obviously, the new 10,000 sqm Heathrow T5 store will focus heavily on luxury, but will give many different brands their own shop-in-shop, like Armani, Chloé, Longchamp, Tod’s, Valentino, Stella McCartney (an airport first) and Yves Saint Laurent (the latter a new arrival next month). These 40-50 sqm shop-in-shops are a new addition to Harrods, which will still house its hallmark features, like a gift store that has performed exceptionally according to the company.
Harrods hopes to take full advantage of the airport’s high volume of Asian and Middle Eastern travelers in its Terminal 5, but also quickly adds it needs to focus on service to keep people coming back and spending more.
