Swedish fashion retailer H&M has started offering home deliveries by bike. The chain’s Dutch customers are the very first to have the choice of having their orders delivered by bicycle courier.
Green delivery
“We are pleased that we can now offer our customers the choice to opt for a ‘green delivery’. Sustainability is an essential part of H&M and delivery by bicycle courier fits in seamlessly”, country manager Susan Krau stated in a press release. The introduction of bicycle couriers fits with H&M’s objective of being climate-positive by 2040. With the rise in e-commerce, transport is a key area for this ambition.
For the deliveries, H&M is working with Fietskoeriers.nl, who are already active in more than thirty Dutch cities today. The parcels will always be delivered between 6 and 10 in the evening, as customers are most likely to be at home then. This way, the chain hopes to be able to deliver 98 % of the parcels at the first attempt. The price for the delivery is the same as for regular deliveries, FashionUnited notes.
