As of today, Sellpy, the second-hand platform of fashion giant H&M, is also operating in Austria and the Netherlands. The demand for second-hand clothes has been growing steadily in recent years.
A minimum of 40 per cent
Customers who want to use the platform can send their used clothes to Sellpy for free in a specific bag. Then, if the item gets sold, the customer receives at least 40 per cent of the proceeds. For garments with a sales value of over 50 euros, the percentage is higher. Items that remain unsold are eventually recycled, writes FashionUnited.
“We notice an increased awareness and demand for sustainable fashion amongst our customers. We are therefore extremely happy to be able to offer this to customers in the Netherlands and Austria through Sellpy, a platform for customers to buy and sell second-hand fashion, thus extending their lifespan,” explains Susan Krau, country manager H&M Netherlands.
Sellpy was founded in 2014. One year later, H&M stepped into the business, and in 2019 the Swedish fashion giant acquired a majority stake in the company through its investment division CO:LAB.
