Swedish fashion chain H&M continues to lay out its sustainability program and has presented its Conscious Exclusive collection in Paris, while it will also continue its sustainable fashion innovation efforts.
Innovation
With its Conscious Exclusive collection, H&M is out to prove that “high fashion” can also be sustainable: that is part of H&M’s strict sustainability policy. It presented the H&M Global Change Award in February, which rewarded 5 inventors with cash prizes to help continue their sustainability innovations. It will also collaborate with companies and scientists to help create more sustainable fashion.
H&M also uses plenty of recycled materials and is one of the world’s largest users of biological cotton. It will also work with its suppliers, to make sure all of their employees receive an honest wage by 2018 and all non-sustainable cotton will have to disappear from stores by 2020.
“We have not reached the end yet and we will never do so”, Anna Gedda (H&M’s head of sustainability) told Knack. “We have to keep investing and innovating. Not only we, but the entire fashion industry has to work together to create sustainable alternatives.
