Near tourist attractions
Apart from that shop, in the Trafford Centre in
Manchester, Lavazza has one concession in Harrods. In the next few months the
company wants to open up five new coffee shops named Lavazza Espression, and in the
next three years another fifty will follow.
Then the company will pick up the pace, because within ten years Lavazza wants to have 400 locations, especially near football stadiums,
shopping streets, regional shopping centres and tourist attractions. The coffee
company will be advised by real estate giant Cushman & Wakefield to decide
on locations.
Lavazza wants to become one of the largest
coffee chains in the United Kingdom, but will find some stiff competition on
the way. Market leader Costa has 1,200 locations in the UK, while Starbucks currently has 760 shops, but will be expanding to over 1,000 locations shortly. A third
competitor is Caffe Nero with about 500 shops, number four Pret A Manger has
240 locations.
