Spanish fashion chain Mango attracted as many as 900,000 new online customers during the lockdown, almost doubling online sales. Digital transformation remains a priority for the company.
Six million e-commerce customers
In the period between 15 March and 1 June, Mango registered as many as 140 million visits on its e-commerce platforms. The retailer attracted 900,000 new online customers and doubled online sales thanks to the lockdowns, which forced people to shop from their living rooms. As a result, growth was 20% higher than in the same period last year, according to a press release. In 2019 the group’s online sales amounted to 564 million euros, a growth of 26.7%. Online accounts for 24 percent of total turnover. The fashion chain now has almost six million e-commerce customers.
“The lockdown caused by the COVID-19 health crisis has intensified the process of digital transformation within the sector”, says Mango CEO Toni Ruiz. “The fact that we launched our e-commerce business 20 years ago has allowed us to face this exceptional circumstance with full guarantees and the capacity to deal with the growth in e-commerce. We will continue to accelerate the digital transformation of the entire company.”.
