Isak Andic, founder of Spanish fashion group Mango, died last Saturday at the age of 71. The entrepreneur fell into a ravine in the Montserrat massif.
Small shop becomes fashion empire
Andic was born in 1953 in Istanbul and later moved to Barcelona, where he took a small shirt shop and turned into a fashion empire with a presence in more than 115 countries and sales of over three billion euros. This made Andic one of the richest men in Spain, with an estimated wealth of 4.5 billion euros, El País reports.
Mango CEO Toni Ruiz paid tribute to Andic in an official statement, calling Andic “an inspiration to us all”. “He combined strategic insight and leadership with deep humanity. His legacy lives on in the success of Mango and in the values he instilled in the organisation”, Ruiz added.
