Dutch fashion chain Omoda has acquired the three shoe stores of the bankrupt Idenza chain, which allows the omnichannel retailer from the southern Zeeland province to expands its activities in the Northern Netherlands, a region that it mostly serves online until now.
Growing portfolio
The shops in Groningen, Leeuwarden and Sneek will be rebranded into Omoda. CEO Jan Baan calls this acquisition an important step in the company’s strategic expansion: “We are very happy to add three beautiful shops with a regular customer base to our shop portfolio of 33 shops in the Netherlands and Belgium. With these new shops, we can serve our current online customers in Groningen and Friesland even better, in addition to our shops in Gorredijk and Heerenveen.”
The acquisition brings customers in the North not only new physical outlets, but also a wider product range. In addition to Idenza’s brands, the stores will now also offer brands such as Nubikk, Notre-V and UGG. The reopening of the shops is scheduled for January and will keep on board the vast majority of Idenza’s staff.
Omoda is using acquisitions to make increasing strides in its ambition to reach customers both online and offline. Last year, it had already acquired shoe store chain Van den Assem, that also was in financial trouble. However, due to its more premium focus, that formula did continue to exist on its own.
