“Balanced proposal”
Labour unions have all said it is a “balanced proposal, taking into consideration all the different groups working at the potato processor”. They have emphasized the importance of helping people get back to work elsewhere, while all employees will also get a sizable financial compensation.
The Grobbendonk factory will shut down on 31 December 2015 because it is seriously outdated and there were no options to expand the facility. All in all, 123 employees will be out of a job, although willing employees can transfer to the McCain facility in Leuze-en-Hainaut.
